India’s next batting savior as a severe crisis – 2024 | Cricket

Who would be India’s next batting savior as they go through a severe crisis:-

A number of older players who are currently in their 30s are part of the Team India transition and will retire from international cricket in the near future. Is the squad prepared to bring in new great batters? Will the batting dilemma for India end?

The elder members of the Indian squad are nearing the conclusion of their professional lives. All of these playersโ€”Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Ravichandran Ashwin, and even Ravindra Jadejaโ€”are in their late 30s, and it seems likely that they will all leave international cricket in the coming years. If it hasn’t started already, the Indian Test team will eventually undergo a transition. Team India has already moved on from Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane and the exit of the aforementioned players will certainly push the batting unit into transition. Has India found replacements for these players? Are these players ready to play top-flight cricket at home and away? Who will be part of the much-famed middle order that has bailed the team out of trouble in the 21st century? Who will be India’s next saviour with the bat? We will discuss all this and a lot more in our India TV Sunday special story.

India’s middle-class, 21st-century superstars

India has been fortunate to have batsmen in its middle order such as Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, and VVS Laxman over the years. Arguably the best group of all, they dominated bowlers worldwide in every situation. Regarding Dravid and Laxman, they were the team’s heroes most of the time, saving them from danger. The fans still remember their shenanigans in 2001 when they shared a 376-run partnership in Kolkata following Australia’s insistence that India follow-on. At that time, Laxman had scored 281 runs, and Dravid had amassed 180 runs to defeat the reigning Australian side.

Who’s willing to take Rohit Sharma’s place:-

After securing his spot in the Test team as an opener in 2019, Rohit Sharma has amassed a large run total. He is not likely to play for more than two years, though, as he is now 37. Then, who will take his place? The only other two players who are in contention for the position are Ruturaj Gaikwad and Abhimanyu Easwaran. Shubman Gill and KL Rahul had previously played as openers but have since gone down to the middle-order. Gaikwad has averaged over 43 in his 31 first-class matches thus far in his career. However, he hasn’t been able to accumulate significant points in the ongoing Duleep Trophy.

Do the players in the pipeline have sufficient talent:-

This season, the Duleep Trophy’s format was altered to accommodate the creation of a player pool. Participants in the competition include Sarfaraz Khan, Rajat Patidar, Ishan Kishan, and Shreyas Iyer. But did it accomplish its goal? Taking into account the tournament’s current figures, all of the returns are incredibly disappointing because they haven’t been constant. Ishan Kishan returned with scores of 5 and 1 after scoring 111 runs, although Iyer has bagged two ducks and has scored a single digit score in six innings. As was the case with Sarfaraz in the two Duleep Trophy matches, Rajat Patidar has also not performed as anticipated.

Who will replace Ashwin and Jadeja – The Batsmen:-

Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja are not only India’s prime wicket-takers but they have also bailed India out of trouble a lot of times with the bat. Their recent effort against Bangladesh in Chennai to save India from 144/6 to 376 with Ashwin scoring a century and Jadeja smashing 86 runs is a testament to how well the duo has played over the years. But both of them are on the verge of stepping down in the next few years and in that case, the question is – Who will replace them? At least in this case, India have two players who could be relied upon – Axar Patel and Washington Sundar.

Among all the aforementioned players, who will be India’s next saviour? Will India be able to come out of the batting crisis? Well, again, only time will tell…
