ENG versus AUS 3rd ODI: Mitchell Starc overtakes Mitchell Johnson in the major record list
In the third ODI between England and Australia at Riverside Ground in Chester-le-Street, Mitchell Starc shone with the ball. In the list of Australia’s most wickets in One-Day Internationals, Starc overtook fellow countryman Mitchell Johnson. Entering the third game of the five-match series, Australia was ahead 2-0.
Mitchell Johnson, a fellow countryman, lost ground to left-arm speedster Mitchell Starc to claim fourth place on two top lists. During Tuesday’s third One-Day International between England and Australia at Riverside Ground in Chester-le-Stree, the 34-year-old speedster reached the milestones.
In the list of all-time ODI wicket-takers, Starc has past Johnson to claim fourth place for his nation. He was tied with Johnson on 239 wickets and needed just one scalp to go past the former left-armer. The 34-year-old did so when he got the wicket of England opener Phil Salt in the third over of England’s batting in the second innings.
Notably, Starc is now in fourth place in the list of bowlers with the most ODI wickets for Australia. The Aussie tally is jointly led by Glenn McGrath and Brett Lee, while Shane Warne is a distant third.

With an incredible 502 wickets, Pakistani superstar Wasim Akram tops this list. Chaminda Vaas of Sri Lanka is ranked second, and Zaheer Khan of India is ranked third.

England and Australia are facing each other in a five-match ODI series at the former’s home. Australia have won both the opening games. They gave a target of 305 to England in the third ODI with Alex Carey starring once again as he made 77, while Aaron Hardie scored a crucial 44.
