According to her father Ramana, PV Sindhu hires Anup Sridhar as a coach for European swing.
Olympic medallist twice eager to go on, with an eye toward the Asian Games in 2026.
According to her father PV Ramana, PV Sindhu plans to aim for a medal at the upcoming Asian Games and, barring an accident, go even farther to the upcoming Olympics. “She’s back in training at the Gachibowli Stadium in Hyderabad, and her first tournament will be the Arctic Open in Finland from October 8–13,” the man stated.
The father said that although Sindhu is unlikely to continue training in Bangalore, anything can happen in the future. “We have started training at Hyderabad since no camps have started,” he continued. Despite winning bronze in 2021 and silver in 2016, Sindhu did not come away from her debut Games with a medal.
Anup Sridhar, a tall player and former Olympian who briefly coached Lakshya Sen and showed promise, will travel with Sindhu on a trial basis to the European swing events, which include the Arctic Open and the Denmark Open (October 15-20).
“With Agus’s contract coming to an end, we are searching for a new coach.” We are interested in partnering with Anup Sridhar and will be evaluating four or five names in the future. In the upcoming days, Anup will train her in Hyderabad and travel to Finland, according to Ramana.
We even considered naming her Korean Park Tae-sang. It’s not as though they broke up after a row. Simply put, Sindhu and I didn’t feel like our cooperation was succeeding or producing results,” he remarked.
Sindhu has reserved training slots at the Gachibowli stadium and is presently doing physical work at the “Track” facility. However, the majority of the upcoming two months will be spent traveling for competitions, since the China Masters (from November 5 to 24) and Korea, Kumamoto, and swing will follow the European swing. If there are no injuries, Ramana stated, “I think she can continue for a long time.”
Due to a significant decline in her game and a fall out of genuine elite contention, Sindhu has found it difficult to win the major titles on the circuit. However, according to her father, she is still driven to compete in the Asian Games in Japan in two years. In Jakarta in 2018, Sindhu turned in her greatest performance to win silver.
India’s search for the future of women’s singles continues, and there have been encouraging signs with Anmol Kharb winning smaller titles in back to back weeks, and Malvika Bansod making China Open quarters. “Sindhu has nothing left to prove, but she still thinks she can aim at the Asian Games,” Ramana said.
