Sanskar Saraswat is eager to win the Smt. Krishna Khaitan Memorial singles and doubles championships.
The 18-year-old believes that his doubles game, which is played at a considerably faster pace, benefits from his doubles training as well.
“Who wins—doubles or singles?” On Tuesday night, Raj Saraswat, a former national player, asked his 18-year-old son Sanskar Saraswat that question.
The Jodhpur player defeated Ansh Negi 21-17, 21-14 in the boys’ singles U19 quarterfinal round. Subsequently, he concluded the Yonex Sunrise 31st Smt Krishna Khaitan Memorial All India Junior Ranking Prize Money Tournament’s U19 doubles quarterfinal match, partnering with Arsh Mohammad. At Tau Devi Lal Sports Complex, following his double surge, the child was merely concerned
Even though my father Raj Saraswat played both singles and doubles, one of his fondest memories is of seeing Lee Chong Wei compete in the 2003 Asian Satellite Tournament in Jaipur. My father would often remind me that Chong Wei concentrated on one format and saw success in it. However, I still enjoy playing singles and doubles because I’m young. which https://thesportsfever.com/ covers.
At the Drona Sports Academy Saraswat Sr. founded in Jodhpur, Sanskar’s father introduced him to badminton. After taking up badminton five years earlier, the young player won the U13 national doubles championship in Kadapa, Andhra Pradesh, alongside Tushar Suveer. In 2019, he and Bhuvan Singh won the U15 national doubles championship in Bhubaneswar.
I have always found the attacking drives game in both doubles and singles to be fascinating. In my spare time, I’ve been imagining doubles situations as I train only for singles. In doubles, it all comes down to timing and mutual understanding with your partner. Fortunately, Saraswat has been able to use on her singles talents of back court and net play to her advantage in doubles.
For the past eight months, the lanky boy has been training at the National Centre of Excellence in Guwahati under the guidance of Malaysian instructor Sankar Annamalai. Despite making it to the Asian Junior Championship final in 2022 alongside Arsh Mohammad, the Rajasthan player is still undecided about competing.
“Sankar sir’s focus has been on my fitness as well as the attacking drive as well as smashes in singles. But then the amount of training we do for singles, helps me in doubles too where it’s a much faster game and the drives also help. Singles are also all about patience and right now, I am being patient in making the choice. I have one more year in juniors before I decide whether I will choose only singles or doubles,” signs off Saraswat.
