Mitchell Starc, a player with the Kolkata Knight Riders, shared an amusing story about comparing his pay to the prize money from the 2024 Indian Premier League.
Mitchell Starc, the highest-paid player in Indian Premier League (IPL) history, had some difficulties with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) during the 2024 season, particularly when things weren’t going according to plan for him. Nevertheless, the Australian speed legend made amends during the campaign’s knockout stages by putting on ball-winning exploits. He was essential to KKR’s championship-winning campaign, which validated the owners’ assertions as the team won its third IPL championship ever. But Starc wasn’t fortunate enough to have his pay reminders fully removed, even after KKR had won the championship.
“The energy was completely destroyed by the IPL Final presentation, which didn’t begin until after midnight. The winning team then received checks totaling INR 20 crore. When Angkrish (Raghuvanshi) saw that, he exclaimed, “Huh!” In a video that went viral on social media, he stated, “It’s not even about how much you got paid.”
That a single player in an IPL-caliber competition receives a salary more than the winning team’s prize money is genuinely bizarre.
Angkrish, who this year was a revelation for KKR after filling in for Nitish Rana in the middle order during the early part of the season, couldn’t help but make fun of the situation.
