Before the Olympics in Paris, Neeraj Chopra says he’s not quite at his best and is “not satisfied with my throw.”

Looking back on his career, Neeraj Chopra said he hasn’t yet achieved his top, citing his 86.48-meter throw in the 2016 World Under-20 Championships as the sole particularly satisfying toss.

New Delhi: Indian javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra, an Olympic and world champion, believes he is still developing and disclosed the throw eight years ago, the only one in his career that has ever made him feel content.

On JioCinema’s “Get Set Gold,” Neeraj demonstrated the fundamentals of javelin throwing to former Indian cricket player Dinesh Karthik. He also displayed his friendly side by talking about some of his interests outside of the game, including his hobbies, favorite films, and the music he likes to listen to before competition.

Neeraj began his season at the Doha Diamond League on May 11 and finished in second place with a throw of 88.36 meters, just before the start of the future Paris Olympics 2024.

In his first competition in India since 2021, Chopra recently participated in the Federation Cup athletics meet in Bhubaneswar on May 15 and took home the gold medal. At the Kalinga Stadium, the elite javelin thrower defeated Manu DP with a breathtaking throw of 82.27 meters. This marked his first domestic competition following his 2021 Olympic gold medal victory in Tokyo.

Neeraj Chopra is scheduled to compete on June 18 at the Paavo Nurmi Games in Turku, Finland.

Chopra also disclosed how he watched a variety of vintage Hollywood films during the COVID-19 lockdown.
“I watched the best-rated movies on IMDb during the lockdown. Thus, there was The Pianist, Cast Away, A Beautiful Mind, The Shawshank Redemption, and Forrest Gump. I just finished seeing the film Society of the Snow. I want to recommend it to everyone. I feel like our lives are so much better because of it,” he continued.

Karthik, who won the Padma Shri, revealed the music he plays before competitions while he was healing from working out like Chopra.

“I don’t have a go-to playlist, but I usually listen to loud music—like Imagine Dragons—during events. I used to participate in the Asian Games.

Neeraj Chopra described his throw in 2016 as ‘special and unique’ and stated that he hasn’t yet reached his peak.
